It's all so achingly beautiful Scot! There are so many things I love: the bold use of color; white & black floor that is echoed in the chair seat; acid-y green color woven throughout (yes!); mirrored place mats; tartan bed fabric; the framed kilted gentleman in an old frame (pitter patter!); bright colored blue ornaments; and the red ceiling in the hall; the use of symmetry and having the lamps at a similar height. It all makes the heart sing!
Is your entire hallway ceiling red, or only the upper part of the wall? The shadows make it difficult to determine. Seeing that you have some very dark walls, I am curious to know how you decide between dark vs. light ceilings, or strong vs. more neutral colours and the relationship between wall and ceiling colour. /Anonymous blog reader
