"The San Francisco Fall Antique Show . . . "

It's always one of my favourite social events each October - the Opening Gala of the San Francisco Fall Antique Show.   And it's a perennial favourite for the myriad of reasons . . .

Do let's take them in order . . .

Penelope Bianchi, Emily Eermans, me, and Jennifer Boles
1) Great friends.  It never fails.  I always run into Jennifer Boles (The Peak of Chic) and Emily Eerdmans every year  . . . and this year, I finally had a chance to meet Penelope Bianchi!

2) The Space is always amazing.  For those of you not familiar with San Francisco, the Gala is held at Fort Mason Center . . . which is basically a giant warehouse space in the Marina . . . but, each year - it's transmogrified into something glorious . . .

3)  Great food (more on that further down . . . ).  and Great drinks.

4) But, most importantly, the antiques - an amazing collection of dealers and pieces from around the world . . . have a look at a few favourites . . .

You can never go wrong with the classics . . .

O.M.G. - I want that screen . . .

I was fascinated by the carving on this amazing chair . . .

Can you say, "Perfect pedestal table for an entry way?"

And I always have a passion for beautiful tapestries . . .

Food.  And more food.  And a great bar.
And - for the second year in a row . . . it happened.  After running into Grant Gibson, Jennifer Boles, Diane Dorrans Saeks, and Eric Cohler right by the front door . . . my first questions was, "Are they serving Tater-Tots again this year?!?!?!?"

Blessedly, the answer was YES!

"Sunday Runway. Men, in Motion . . . "

Sometimes it feels like it's all moving so fast.  Can you believe that the new year will be upon us before we know it.  So here's a little break.  From the hectic pace.  From the to-do-list.  A few moments of great style.  In motion . . .

"Getting Ready . . . "

It's been another crazy, busy week around here once at SMW Design again.  Keeping our various design projects clipping along.  And also putting the finishing details on our upcoming event "Designing Your Holidays, with Scot Meacham Wood" on November 3rd.  Eeeeek.  Only two weeks away.  If you'd like more info, look HERE.  It's basically like throwing a seminar, a cocktail party, and three dinner parties on the same night.  It's gonna be great fun.  And informative.  And hilarious.

So I've been culling through images of parties I've worked on.  And through old photo-shoots.  And grinning from ear-to-ear with all the great memories . . .

"A Book Give-Away . . . "

I had the great privilege of receiving an advance copy of an amazing new book from Kathryn Crisp Greeley entitled "The Collected Tabletop, Inspirations for Creative Entertaining."  A vast array of images of Kathryn's amazing table settings and inspirations for great parties and entertaining.  I've pulled a few images to highlight - but, seriously, the entire book is a treasure trove of beautiful images and menu ideas - the perfect thing to get all of your creative juices flowing.

The good news - I have an extra copy to give-away to one of my lucky readers - so, just leave a comment here about one of your favourite parties - and I'll announce the winner (from a random drawing) on Monday October 17th.

(Kathryn was kind enough to send me a free copy of her book to use as the give-away)
