"White shoes, white pants . . . "

" . . . and white furnishings."

Good morning,

We all seemed to have celebrated and survived Memorial Day holiday yesterday  . . . and NOW we can start wearing white clothing below the waist (white bucks, white linen trousers) . . . but, what about the use of white within our own homes?  I've been culling through my "inspiration files" and found a few examples of the exuberance of "white."

Love the white chinoiserie-style dining chairs, the wonderful mill work, and the contrast with the "Tiffany" blue wall treatment.

The beauty of white raised-panel mill work contrasts with the traditional blue and white porcelains and highlights the dark, amazing inlaid floors and furnishings.

Seriously.  Coffered ceilings, charming cabinetry, and again, contrasting with the antiques and wide planked floors.  Stunning. (GrannySmith Green - this one is for you!)

Simple.  Calm.  Beautiful.

White Linen.  White dramatic wainscoting .  And another white coffered ceiling.

Or maybe it's just the shock of a white twig chandelier to bring some excitement to the design.

The first photo grabbed me... love the wide arched doorways and the newel post...probably since I recently did a post on staircases and newel posts!

LOVE it all - I adore color - but it is best shown off by the contrast of a crisp white .....and no matter what anyone says or how old I am - I will never wear white before Memorial Day or after Labor Day. just can't do it.

The inlaid floor in the entry way photo is to die for, not to mention the runner on the stairs.
My favorite white still remains all the lovely woodwork possibilites.

That twig chandelier is to die for...I love the topic of this post! I've become a bit obsessed lately with that scandinavian way of painting whole rooms, floors and ceilings included, pure pure white.
Yeah! Loving the crisp clean coolness of all the white. I'm currently having an obsession with linen slip covers. I think I may have to "summer up" the place with a few.

Thanks for the kitchen shot. It's great! Think I could have the image above it too--and in the same house???

Have a wonderful week, friend!

Each more beautiful than the one before. I adore that huge cabinet in the granny smith picture.

We have a blue and white vase filled with casa blanca lilies that looks very much like the one in your photo on our ETSY store. We have also used blue and white containers in our sophiedahydesigns.com shop. Visit us!!
There is nothing better than a crisp white used in an interior. 12 years ago, I decided to get a white (well, light ivory) large scale upholstered chair for my family room. I had it treated by Fiberseal, and 12 years, 3 kids, and 1 dog later it is still in remarkably great condition. I am glad I didn't listen to the nay-sayers who told me not to get light colored upholstery!
