"The Results Are In . . . "

Good morning,

I can't think of a better way to spend a sleepless night. Hearing the gentle 'ping' from the computer at 2:30am, rolling over in bed to check 'new mail,' and seeing a message from Ronda Rice Carman (the author of "All the Best Blog") with the subject line "Congratulations." I can assure you that I was WIDE awake then.

I'm proud to announce that the images of my little home here in San Francisco were selected as the 2nd place winner in the SFERRA/All the Best Bedroom Contest. Click here to see the other beautiful rooms. The judging was done by a panel of note -worthy designers - Michael Devine, Kelly Wearstler, Vicente Wolf, Todd Romano, Amanda Nisbet, Nathan Turner, and Ronda Rice Carman.

Yay,

I think you should have come first. Frankly my style is rather spacious, dare I say white-washed "Colonial" meets Out of Africa meets "Wandering Star" but, your room which is not my style at all was my favourite.

You used the space so well and to actually have all that detail, art and textural form combined into a warm and cohesive whole - lovely. I can't imagine spending a sleepless night in that room, unless it is spent admiring it.

Second place should have been (she sees cheekily) the "honourable mention room", just for being original and off-beat.

I demand a recount - Joking and congratulations.

Stunning. I spent some time looking at the layers; pattern, texture, finishes and color. Amazing details and pairings. It appears collected over time and travels. I adore a room with a history. I experienced an urge for an afternoon visit including my favorite book and cup of hot tea. You have created a true refuge for yourself. Congratulations, although I would imagine the greatest prize is coming home -

Bravo! This just goes to show that when you are confident & comfortable with your signature style, others feel confident & comfortable around you!
Also I stopped by for a look at this handsome blog of yours for some inspiration for a watercolor.
Looking at libraries & leather chairs....
Again, congratulations!
Lisa
So much congrats, so well deserved!
congrats!! beyond amazing!!!
I see where you have the Bible (Ralph Lauren book) on the table!
;-)

I just did a post on my attempts to turn my bathroom into a Ralph Lauren-ish one. I love all things Ralph (and all things British & British Colonial)...Are you familiar with the Tottering By Gently catoons from the british Country Life magazine? I ordered the book and then framed some of them and put them in my bathroom. I love how they look framed. So very English Country House which I adore.

;-)
