"Weekend in Scotland . . . "

Greetings,

Just a little something lush and romantic for your weekend pleasure.  Castle Forter in Perthshire (North of Edinburgh) is a excellent example of Scotch Baronial design - and also a stunning example of the work of London interior designer Katharine Pooley.

Enjoy . . .

Originally built in 1560, Forter Castle lay as a ruin for over 300 years before being restored in 1980. Katharine took on the challenge of decorating and designing this exceptionally beautiful, historic castle in a style which would successfully combine the demands of contemporary living and entertaining, but not detract from the heritage of the building.

Thank heavens I've found my passport - who wants to join me,

I just renewed my passport I'm in. I asked my husband Graham if he'd ever been to Castle Forter & he replied no; yet it is a bicycle ride away from his families home in Aberdeen. He sharply stated that when you live in Scotland castles are no big deal. We think you America's are weird! So there you go. Weird or not, I can never get enough of castle watching. If our house ever sells we will be living with all this beauty surrounding us. I could be your tour guide!

Great post Scot & happy Sunday ~

Absolutely stunning! Just doesn't get any better than this. So quaint with lovely lighting and the tartan rug. I want a brown and black rug in tartan.
Thanks for sharing and have a great day.
Who doesn't want to follow you? that's the question. this castle looks amazing! Katherine did an amazing job at maintaining the "old world" feel and touches, while making it feel fresh and inviting. Just beautiful. Thanks for sharing! Now, when are we leaving? ;)
