"Sunday Runway - Best Made Company . . . "
We're going to go a bit further afield than we usually do on our "sunday runway" posts - and chat a bit about shopping. I was in NY over the last week, and took a quiet Friday morning to jaunt down 'below canal street' and visit Best Made Co. for myself. I've been aware of them from their website - but, after numerous recommendations from friends - wanted to visit their shop to see, touch, and feel a few of my favourite items for myself.
The shop has a pure 'American camping gear' vibe that is completely delightful - and almost yankee in
its reserve and spartan point of view . . .
A corner of their shop in Tribeca . . .
"The company was founded in 2009 by Peter Buchanan-Smith who saw a need for a better axe: an evocative tool that played an indispensable role in his life working on cattle farms and paddling and portaging the lakes of Northern Canada. Peter knew that a well made axe — the oldest and most invaluable tool known to mankind — could not only function as a lifeline in the wilderness, but at home it could be a magnificent window into that wilderness and inspire people to reconnect with their hands, craft, and nature."
A quick trip to their website yielded an endless supply of great gifts and clever purchases.
Take a look . . .

Go. and Shop.
Cheers,
