"The Boy's Room . . . "

Terrie Hall, Colorado

Greetings,

I hope everyone had an amazing new year's celebration.  We were up in Lake Tahoe for a few days enjoying the beautiful scenery (but, lacking any form of snowfall this year . . . yikes!).  But, now - safely tucked back into the office - and making plans for a great 2012.

The new year is a great time to make some updates to the house.  With all the holiday decorations coming down - it's easy to see the house with a fresh eye and with a new perspective . . . and as I noted on facebook the other day - "The removal of the 90 odd feet of garland from the drawing room REALLY kinda opens the space up!"

But with the front rooms done - this weekend - I think I'm gonna tackle some updates on my bathroom.  Maybe rehang a few pieces of artwork.  An inventory of the medicine cabinet.  And it's always a good time to order fresh set of new monogrammed towels.

So . . . if you're in the same kinda mood . . . here's some inspiration . . .

Love the chairs in many of these bathrooms Scot, they make it more a room than a utility.

I love the use of multiple photos/pictures in so many of them. Especially the first one--what a handsome room!

Welcome back..

There is something I LOVE about a bathroom whose decor goes way out of the box... a small space but with SO much potential. I adore these photos!!!

Thank you for sharing... have a great weekend!

Love the bathroom as gallery set-up. Better than magazines!

Did you encounter a while back, the trend of putting school diplomas on the bathroom wall as a sort of ironic (but invariably affected)gesture? I'm glad that joke got old.

You featured one bathroom picture not too long ago that was all silvery moonlight and cotton candy towels. QUITE an inspiration!
All lovely but that very first one..wow just stunning!! Amazing how "decluttered" homes look after all the Christmas decor is out, isn't it!

I am so not looking forward to taking down the tree this weekend but love the idea of a little freshening around the house. In fact, my powder room will be getting a little much needed facelift.
That first one is fabulous!!!!!!!!! Even though it is masculine looking I still love it. My house is looking pretty BARE after the Christmas comes down and I am making lists of what to do/add/purchase etc.

These are some of my favorite images! Glad you enjoyed a relaxing New Year in Tahoe, even without snow.
2012 is gaining momentum, so exciting to think of the possibilities.

Hi Scott,

I'm Terrie Hall, of Design the Hall-Way. I designed the first bathroom at the very top of today's post. I am very proud of the fact that you chose my bathroom to use as an example in your blog. I especially appreciate the wonderful comments that it received! I noticed that all of your examples are referenced except for my work. Would you please reference my work too? I would greatly appreciate it! Thank you!

Wonderful post filled with many great ideas to transform my place :) thanks for sharing.
Terrie -

I'm so glad you let me know that it was your work. I've always LOVED that image - and it's been floating around in my inspiration files for a while now. I'm always pleased to post such excellent design.

Cheers,
Scot
Definately the time to re-organize and re-access. My new year resolution is to dispose of one useless or non-used object everyday...both in the house, closets, or garage. so far it has been very satisfying.
Absolutely love the first bathroom!!..One of my redecorating projects is the master bath..So when all the decorations are down, (takes me a few weeks) I look forward to my 2012 projects. Your bathroom post has inspired me to move forward.

Thanks again for featuring my tree and mantle on your Holiday Decorating Competition. The winning entries were fabulous!
Fabulous post, something about bathrooms that bring out the decorator :) Love the inspiration.
Such great inspiration. Love the wood column and the ties, the menswear red stripes, your terrific designs, the tall jars in the John Jacob design. Fab.
